Our Mission

NexStep Recovery exists to walk alongside individuals and families navigating the challenges of CPS, the justice system, addiction, and mental health—offering personalized care, honest accountability, and real tools for healing. We are committed to restorative justice, reunification, and community transformation—one next step at a time.

Our Vision

Our vision is a community where families are restored, healing is accessible, and no one is left behind. We aim to be a leading, trusted recovery and support center for underserved populations in West Texas and beyond—breaking cycles, restoring dignity, and building bridges toward lasting change.

Why We Are Here

NexStep Recovery was built from the ground up with people like you in mind—those who have been overlooked, underestimated, or flat-out dismissed. We know what it’s like to face tough systems without a map. So we became the map.

We work with clients involved in CPS, on probation or parole, attending court-mandated classes, or recovering from substance use and trauma. But more than anything, we work with people. People trying to rebuild, reconnect, and rise.

At NexStep, you’ll find:

  • Honest support from people who actually care

  • Real help navigating complicated systems

  • Tools and structure that fit real life—not perfection

We’re not here to babysit or check boxes. We’re here to help you heal, grow, and take control of your future.

About NexStep Recovery

NexStep Recovery was created to fill a gap—one that many families, individuals, and communities fall through. We serve the people most systems have left behind: those navigating the complex worlds of CPS, probation, parole, and court-ordered programs. For those who have been told “you’re too broken,” “you don’t belong,” or “you’ll never change”—we say welcome.

At NexStep Recovery, we offer more than services. We offer belonging, accountability, and real hope. From supervised family visitations to anger management and parenting classes, individual, group, couples, and family counseling, and specialized support for neurodivergent families, we’re here to meet people where they are and help them take their next step forward.

This is a place where reunification is possible, restorative justice is practiced, and healing is the goal. And we know healing isn’t linear. It’s messy, hard, and often starts when the world has given up on you. That’s where we come in—with compassion, structure, real talk, and practical tools that work.

Our team is made up of passionate, experienced people who are here for the mission—not just the paycheck. If you’re only in this for the hours, you won’t last long. But if you care deeply about families, kids, recovery, mental health, and community, you’ll find your home here.

We’re proud to be based in Abilene, Texas, and to serve a growing number of people in need of support, encouragement, and second chances. And we’re not done yet—our services are expanding soon to include:

  • NexSteps of Hope (our nonprofit 501(c)(3))

  • Kids Club & Summer Camps

  • Victim Impact Panel (VIP)

  • Battery Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP)

  • Military-focused, substance use and general Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)

  • Direct social work assistance for housing, IDs, food assistance, and more

We don’t take insurance—yet. But we do take people seriously. And we believe deeply that change is possible when the right support meets the right moment.

So, if you’re ready—even just a little—we’re here.
Let’s take the next step together.
